The VS Web Server is on the air 24 hours a day on a 2 Mbit/sec cable Internet connection. If your connection is slower than that, response will be limited by your connection speed. This is the first Wang VS in the world with a direct Web presence on the public Internet. It first went on the air in September, 1997 in the form of a single-connection demo. A prototype multiconnection server was placed on line in January, 1998. A functional multiconnection server was placed on line in May, 1998. An alpha test version was placed on line in June 1998. A beta test version was placed on line in October, 1998. The production version running now was placed on line in December, 1999. Several VS sites that I know of around the world are using VS Web Server to provide internal and/or external access to VS data and CGI applications. NEW: GetronicsWang now has its own VS Web Server on the air from Tewksbury, Massachusetts, devoted exlusively to VS customers. The richly designed Website contains news and product information of interest to the VS community, with an emphasis on Y2K issues and Y2K-ready products as well as the latest in other VS hardware and software.
