Unfortunately Storcase has closed its business rather than try to compete with cheaper, lower quality Asian products.
No Storcase products are available new from Storcase. Only "New-in-box" and used items are available now in the general marketplace,
and no service is available other than Storcase's famous seven-year warranty for products dated approximately five years ago.
We specialize in Kingston/StorCase removable drive technology and enclosures and sell the entire Data Express and Data Silo lines. In addition we buy and refurbish/upgrade pre-owned Data Express and Data Silo units and offer them as part of our line of affordable equipment for getting new COBOL ReSource customers up and running.
Data Express® is a family of reliable, removable drive carriers and receiving frames compatible with SCSI or IDE system interfaces. These modular subsystems house 2.5 inch IDE drives or 3.5 inch hard disks and front loading media
devices (tape, floppy or ZIP) while creating a removable mounting within 3.5 inch or 5.25 inch peripheral expansion bays.
The Data Express units are ruggedly constructed and employ highly-reliable
mating connectors between the drive carrier and receiving frame. Standard features include a drive carrier key lock, a drive activity indicator and an ID select LED (except on DE90). Hot swap capability and solenoid drive locks are available options on most models.
Popular Uses of the Data Express Include:
Transferring Data - The Data Express drive carrier can be removed
from a system for transporting data to another system.
Data Security - Removing and securing the Data Express drive
carrier for a system after use can prevent unauthorized data usage.
Archiving Large Files - Data Express carriers can be swapped without
powering down, allowing information from another drive to be accessed.
RAID Applications - Data Express reliability has made it almost a
standard in RAID and network applications where reliability is of great
importance.
Data Express and Data Silo products may also be used with Wang VS systems for 50-pin SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 connectivity. Drives must be Wang drives but the housing and cabling is independent of Wang as long as it meets the SCSI specification. It is even possible to mount Data Express removable disk drive assemblies in existing Wang SSM and MDSC enclosures to gain the added flexibility of rapid drive replacement or of moving drives between VS systems.
