I'm not sure which one that is. I recall something called Space Saver. Is Saver-Plus an enhanced version of that? I *think* Space Saver came from Corona, a company in Sweden. They're still in business. In fact, I met the owner (and his entire lovely family) at Wang's InterACTION show in October. Look for Corona on my Vendors page.

I'm not familiar with GLINK either. Never heard of it. I don't like Lightspeed, personally. I know that many, many VS sites use it, but I don't care for software as buggy as every version of LS that I've ever worked with, nor their mission-UNcritical support attitude. "Well, I'm like the, you know, Support Dood, and I really want to get your call, but we're like having our catered lunch, and I'm like scheduled for one of those massage things they do here, so be kewl and leave a message and I'll get back to you sometime this month, OK?"

Wang offers a PC connectivity product called VS LAN Connection. It includes VS, PC gatewar and PC client software. It does terminal emulation and certain kinds of data transfer.

There's also straight telnet to the VS if you don't have more than 20 or 30 people who need to do it. You need WSN, TCP/IP, and a LAN controller for the VS. Look for TCP/IP to become bundled with the new OS 7.53 early in 1998.

There are also telnet and various other TCP/IP, async 2110 and WLOC products from SBA in Chicago, now part of Sentinel.

There's also straight async 2110A emulation on VS async ports. Wang even has a new (1996) Multiworkstation 2110 microcode option for the VS. Install it and your 2110's (real or emulated) can do up to four windows and use glossary keys all of a sudden!

> Don't you love these questions out of the blue.

Sure do! How about giving me some background on the system(s) for which you're asking the questions? What model(s), what OS version, what major optional stuff like WO or imaging or PACE. Any networked VS systems?

There's a lot of new stuff in the VS landscape. I haven't had time to put all of it up on my website. The latest is Wang's commitment to support and enhance the VS through the year 2007 - ten years out. The other big, new news is that another, bigger CPU will likely be announced during 1998, perhaps delivered in 1998. It will be almost 2X the speed of the current top of the line, the VS16850, and about 3X the speed of the previous, the VS12650 -- about nine times the speed of the old VS300 that was a shiny, new product in 1985.
