That's entirely feasible.

I don't know what EHLAPPI is. If it is an IBM term it probably has no applicability to the VS. There is a VS package that provides 327X terminal controller emulation in an SNA network and APIs that allow you to field the 3270 screens and respond to them in a program in the VS. This allows virtually any level of interface to mainframe databases.

I'm less familiar with 3270 access (programmatic or otherwise) *to* the VS, although I'd be surprised if it doesn't exist.

Yes. VS TCP/IP is a Berkeley sockets implementation capable of communicating with standard TCP/IP stacks on all kinds of platforms. The TCP/IP package also (optionally) comes with TCP/IP Services, which include inbound and outbound telnet, ftp and SMTP. I am working on a WWW server that runs on the VS, so there will shortly be yet another "service" supporting TCP/IP connectivity. ODBC will probably come out sometime during 1998 from one source or another.
