Significant what? It seems your email client produces one, long run-on line which gets truncated.

Very tough. Few people can uproot themslves for an assignment as short as 6 months. A long shot you might try is:

BMendis@Telecom.fm (Bernard Mendis)

Bernard works (last I heard) for FSM Telecomm. He is a former Computer Advisor [sic] to the FSM National Government, as am I. If you happen to catch him at an opportune time in his career he might be interested in Hawaii, where he went to school and where his wife and child were living as of late last year.

Other than that I can only suggest that you compose a concise statement of what you seek and I'll place it on my VS Jobs page. There is no charge.

What do you mean by old, and why have you never upgraded it?

The last VS5000 I saw purchased was acquired for $1,000 (exclusive of OS and optional package licenses) The VS6230 is an ideal machine because it is roughly the size of a double-fat PC AT, consumes far less electricity than large-cabinet VS systems, is more reliable, and less than 10% as costly in maintenance.

It is more costly to run an "old" system than to upgrade to a "new" system. Also, the old systems use SMD disks, which are more costly to operate than SCSI disks are to purchase and operate even on a six-month amortization.

When you have the CPU and OS under Wang maintenance you get OS upgrades for the asking. They've also bundled several key features such as EVAS (Extended Virtual Address Space) and SAM (System Activity Monitor, a tuning and diagnostic tool). I expect TCP/IP and my web server to be bundled sometime in coming months.

Let me know what you think of what I've said, and also tell me what VS model and OS version you are running. Also what optional Wang software you have installed.

Thomas Junker
